The Competition

You've seen them, and perhaps have used them on your own layout. The small, paper-thin, prefabricated mountain with tunnel. To make them affordable, they are lightweight and mass-produced. And, quite frankly, they just don' t look very realistic on most model railroads.

Realistic Rocks

For those who desire greater realism, especially those constrained by time and/or talent, our more realistic rock outcroppings just look better, whether for a simple, table-top model or a large detailed empire.

See us IN ACTION...

Five N-scale diesels at the head of a long passenger train, exiting a straight tunnel and then passing small- and medium-size grey rock formations and a standing rock.

A lashup of 5 Santa Fe N-scale diesels passing through a custom medium curved tunnel. Note: MRT does not sell curved tunnels. We will be providing a video soon demonstrating how to cut tunnels using a Dremel tool.

N-scale Tunnels

We have our first tunnel! The Craggy Summit can work both as a mountain to enhance your layout scenery but it is also an N-scale curved tunnel.

We are working on more prototypes now. Check back often to see our progress.

These tunnels create the look of a realistic rock formation but without the weight of real rocks. Because they are hollow, they weigh very little, making them easy to move and position exactly as you want, yet they are solid enough to stay where placed. Using molded resin provides exceptional detail with realistic texture and a convincing, natural color. The medium and small sizes work perfectly for an N-scale model railroad.

All of our tunnel portal holes are cut to exceed NMRA S-7 Modern standards for the applicable scale.
